Years ago, Issac Asimov said of episodic television that “No matter what happens, nothing happens.” To a greater or lesser extent, this is true of all serialized fiction. But we do sometimes see “permanent” changes in fiction — Captain Marvel is still dead (though he’s passed on the trademark). And there’s that other things, too (can you tell that I’m reaching?)
