Do you remember that book in 2005 when Fury put together a squad of monsters — howlers that actually howled? Well I recently podcasted an episode about the first issue of that series.

Wow, can’t say as I remember that at all! Sounds terrible … must have been during my Odinsleep away from comics.
Truth to tell, even when I was a kid, I wasn’t all that in to Fury or S.H.I.E.L.D. I wanted superheroes, not super-spies. It was only when digging back into my Accumulation a couple years ago that I started to develop an appreciation for Fury — first for Kirby’s crazy gadgets and creativity, and then of course for the way Steranko kicked over the card table. Now, I find that I’ve written about Nick Fury as much or more as any subject here at Longbox Graveyard. It has been a journey.
